Local EPC experts as acknowledged by many property professionals within the local domestic and commercial property markets around South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
All domestic and commercial buildings in the UK available to buy or rent must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). If you own a home, getting an energy performance survey done could help you identify ways to save money on your energy bills and improve the comfort of your home. Domestic and commercial property must be rated at an E rating or above before it can be rented out to tenants.
Much like the multi-coloured sticker on new appliances, EPCs tell you how energy efficient a building is and give it a rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient). EPCs let the person who will use the building know how costly it will be to heat and light, and what its carbon dioxide emissions are likely to be.
The EPC will also state what the energy-efficiency rating could be if improvements are made, and highlights cost-effective ways to achieve a better rating. Even if you rent your home, most improvements noted on the EPC are well worth implementing and may qualify for subsidy, especially if you are in receipt of benefits.
The Green Homes Grant
You could be eligible for a Government Green Homes Grant of up to £10,000 towards the cost of making your home more energy efficient. The Green Homes Grant scheme is only available to home owners and residential landlords in England.
If you’re a homeowner or residential landlord you can apply for a Green Homes Grant voucher towards the cost of installing energy efficient improvements to your home. Improvements could include insulating your home to reduce your energy use or installing low-carbon heating to lower the amount of carbon dioxide your home produces. You must redeem the voucher and ensure improvements are completed by 31 March 2022.
